  2. The strategic retreat from the right bank of the Dniepr is a very intelligent thing to do. It allows to preserve the lives of the Russian soldiers and to preserve their military equipment, Russia had planned this a few weeks ago - evacuating the majority of the civilians from the east bank part of Kherson was to put them out of danger from the Ukrainians. The remaining thirty to sixty thousand civilians are those who were on the Ukrainian side, the majority of the population there are on Russia's side and are now safe, thanks to Russia. Note that only 40% of Kherson lies on the right bank, 60% of Kherson lies on the left bank and firmly in the hands of Russia and will remain so.
