@MrWhiskeycricket Marriage is all right for those who have found their dream partner and want to build a life together. However, nobody should be regarded as a hopeless case just because they choose to remain single. Societal expectations are behind nearly all sadness, distress and sometimes even suicides.

@MrWhiskeycricket I am saying that if a person can stay happily married to another oir life, good luck to him or her, otherwise, get divorced.

@mikeappleget482 Your grandparents must have been cold as ice to plague your dad with remarks about marriage when he had just come out of come out of the army, having been exposed to all sorts of danger then. He should have told them to get lost. I am glad that you have a different attitude.

@rustyshackleford735 Well, if they openly admit before marriage that they are not going to be faithful to their spouse after marriage, maybe they are not marriage material and should be avoided.

@KalvinistKyle What people trying to say is that marriage should be taken seriously, that is all.

@rallen1449 It is sometimes.

@cleoldbagtraallsorts3380 I agree with you but, in the past, it was expected for women to get married just in order to have a roof over their heads. The best and most well-paid jobs went to men, so women got married just in order to survive. It never bodes well to marry someone just for his wages, so many women had extramarital affairs to make themselves happy. As for men having extramarital affairs, they may have got bored of their wives...

@jeffberndt8699 No, it is the same issue. Everyone, man or woman, wanted to live, even if not in style. Most of us want a roof over our heads and bread on the table. Unless a woman wanted to become a nun, cook or governess, she had no job opportunities to take advantage of and thus became dependent on a man - worst case scenario. We do not know how lucky we are to be living in the twenty-first century.

@microbios8586 Really?! Would you like your spouse to cheat on you? By cheating on you, your spouse is effectively saying that he or she prefers his or her lover to you. Are you prepared to be the second class person in this scenario?
1
@MrWhiskeycricket No, if you break up with someone because they slept with someone else ( while being married to you, of course), you show them that you are hurt by their unfaithfulness.
1
@MrWhiskeycricket You are probably right.

@KrypXern The patriarchal structure of society has a lot to answer for.

@MrWhiskeycricket As long as they are HAPPILY married, then why not?
