I thought that she lived alone as the sole occupant of the desert. Then she admitted that she had neighbours.

@spunkysparks1779 Then he does not live in the same town as you. He is not your neighbour. Definition of "neighbour" : someone who lives next door to you. Otherwise, he is not your neighbour.

Say what you like: no matter whether you approve or not of someone living alone on an island, no-one deserves to have their caravan, cabin or car being vandalised. There is never an excuse to harass people just because they live differently from you. Those people who thrashed her caravan are no better than fascists. Fascists also destroyed property of those whom they considered "different" from them.

@juliew1426 Oh yes, she has. As someone else pointed out in this chatroom, she is at risk of being killed by a snakebite and attacked by a person. She had her trailer home broken into already and she has to carry a gun to defend herself. I am afraid to say that nowhere is perfect tly safe. In big cities, there is also the risk of being murdered. In a village, you could die from a fatal injury without a nearby hospital and on a desert island, you have to worry where the next drop of water is coming from, but the world has always been a dangerous place.

What she means is that this desert, despite its beauty, is still dangerous, not only because it is impossible to grow food there, attracts lawless types because there is no police to protect them. Sometimes, I feel the need to get away from an overpopulated, densely packed city but I am not sure about moving to a place whee I have to carry a gun to protect myself at all times.
