  2. ​ @doesntmatter4195  As a postal employee since 1980 I would like to know what you disagree about. I have seen management slowly destroy the USPS since 2000 and DeJoy accelerate it since 2020. The public often thinks they "don't care" until they need the service and it fails. Mail delivery has kinda been taken for granted for 250 years

  3. ​ @dalewilliams2291 Most of your comment is correct. In 2006 under G W Bush the USPS was required to prefund retirement health benefits 75 years in advance. That was ended by congress in 2022 but it put USPS deeply in debt. Nothing DeJoy is doing will help.

Closures of sorting/distribution centers did happen as USPS management begin displaying a "corporate attitude" about year 2000. They hired more management from "outside" instead of promoting internally with people who knew how the SERVICE worked because they had done the jobs they now managed. Install corporate thinkers and the SERVICE in the Postal Service begins to fail. I saw this with my own eyes as an employee hired in 1980. I am ashamed of what DeJoy has done and wants to do to a once proud organization.

  19. ​ @jonathanjones3126 Actually, yes we do need a post office in every community. There is a constitutional mandate to deliver mail to every address in America. Lots of peoples lives depend on postal delivery. Good for you if you can survive online only.
