nowadays the uk is also 230v because continental europe was 220v

@j.r.arnolli9734 what about the oven & stove tops on at the same time? that's why european ranges are usually connected to 3x16a 11kw fuses
3
because 2 phases can't normally rotate a motor
3
the tv uses the same watts (assuming it's the same model) but it uses double the amps which requires thicker wires
1
for people who don't speak british english, lift means elevator
1
our ac units are usually connected to 2 phases so they're 208v or 240v
1
2 phases can't normally rotate a motor
1
my rental apartment is 208v
1
it doesn't even make any sense because the nes is 9v & you can use a 100-240v ac adapter
1
converting an ac voltage to another ac voltage is much easier than converting a dc voltage to another dc voltage
1
here in america most main breakers are either double pole or triple pole unlike european main fuses
1
most countries use 220-240v because it's more efficient than 110-120v (for some reason japan uses 100v)
1
12:34 he said that
1
was it a pen fault? if there's a pen fault, turn off your main switch immediately
1
what's the point of 120v? i hate it because my room is 15a 1800w & my kitchen is 2x20a 4800w
1
it has l1, l2, l3, neutral & ground
1
@HBrobjerg if it's tn-c then there's no difference but if it's tn-s then they're kept separate because that allows an rcd
1
i know an old finnish apartment which is 1x35a instead of 3x25a
1
i know an old small finnish apartment which is 1x35a instead of 3x25a with a range which is 1x20a instead of 3x16a
1
@nhitc6832 230v 1x35a is barely enough
1
parts of brazil are 230v 60hz instead of 120v 60hz
1
what? do you mean the fuse size?
1
@breadmoth6443 what do you mean? if the socket is behind a 120v 15a fuse then it outputs 120v up to 15a
1
that's it instead of tn-s or tn-c
1
european ranges are usually connected to 400v 3x16a 3 phase & european garages usually have a standard red 400v 3x16a 3 phase socket
1
i once measured 135v in europe
1
@soundslight7754 it doesn't really matter because 230v devices can handle anything from 220-240v & heating elements will run slightly hotter than on 225v
1
trinitron
1
there's also south korea which is 230v 60hz
1
because that can't normally rotate a motor
1
because we originally only had 110v for lighting
1
what are you talking about? 208v is 120° out of phase & 240v is 180° out of phase
1
i think you made a mistake because i know finland: the standard grounded schuko sockets are 16a but they can also be 10a the old standard ungrounded sockets are usually 10a also main fuses in finland are usually either 3x25a or 3x35a
1
12:34 he said 240v single phase
1
you're finnish? my dad is finnish
1
my rental apartment is 120/208v 2x60a
1
because that can't normally rotate a motor
1
i know an old finnish apartment which is 1x35a instead of 3x25a
1
@toraxmalu a 3x16a range has more power than that entire 1x35a apartment
1
do you live in europe? european garages usually have a 400v 3x16a 3 phase socket
1
how big are your main fuses? if they're 3x6000w then it makes no sense to just use 1x6000w
1
@besacciaesteban how many amps are the 3 220v main breakers each?
1
@besacciaesteban 220v 3x25a is a lot of power (my home is only 120v 2x60a) but 220v 1x25a is almost no power at all
1
where can i buy a 1200rpm micro motor?
1
the 3x32a & 3x63a sockets are uncommon because the common main fuse sizes are 3x25a & 3x35a
1
how big are your norwegian 230v range fuses usually? european range fuses are usually 400v 3x16a & our american range fuses are usually 208v or 240v 2x40a
1
because 2 phases can't normally rotate a motor
