  2. Yes, correct. The LW didn't have the right planes for a drawn-out strategic war against an island, and not enough of the wrong planes for a tactical situation (air umbrella to guard Sealion).

  3. There is a very simple formula why the LW lost the BoB. They had didn't have the right planes, and not enough of the wrong ones... 1944 showed what would have happened if the LW had long range escort fighters, or at least the 5 to 1 superiority in numbers the combined air forces of the USAAF and RAF had at this point. In 1940, the roughly 1.5 to 1 superiority in numbers the LW had over the RAF was not nearly enough for a sustained strategic air campaign.
