First, they are authoritarian through and through. Republicans were ultra-loyalists when George Bush was President, and it took over 10 years for them to disown that fool completely. This isn't changing under Trump. Second they didn't elect him for any real reason, they just wanted President Asshole, and so far he seems to be delivering.
