Who is on the extreme left?

That doesn't mean there aren't real ideological differences between the left and the right, just that the political system is dysfunctional and neither side is able to express itself through current political parties.

Generally speaking yes, it's more complicated than just left vs. right, but it does have it's place. People who deny a the reality of left-right politics tend to be libertarians or conspiracy nuts(that is often a charitable interpretation) trying to deny their own place on the political spectrum.

And anarcho-communists are nobodies with out power, allies, or representation, the extreme right has all those in a variety of flavors whether it's Ted Cruz and Roy Moore or Steve King and Steve Scalise.

The political system doesn't represent real people's politics, left and right are very real even if the political system doesn't represent it. The talking points you are using are the sort of things non-conventional people on the right like libertarians and "conspiracy theorists"(which is a generous interpretation) use to cover up the realities of their own politics.

Ummm that's exactly what left vs. right is. Real leftism is progressive and all rightism is regressive, there is nothing progressive on the right and neoliberalism is regressive, just less so than rightism. American politics doesn't reflect this, but that doesn't mean it isn't true.

Fine, what is the best of all possible worlds to a libertarian?

Jade Laurel Johnson Well it just sounds like you're describing polarization and the collapse of the center. I don't see how this invalidates left and right, but I am willing to acknowledge the issue is complicated and highly dependent on definitions and context.
