That's not what authority is or how it works. Unless you think you are dominating your friends with your authority. Authority has to do more with things like power and tradition than it does with liking someone. I'm pretty sure you don't obey the police only because you like them.  "I really don't think they are any more obedient to his authority than Obama supporters were to his." I might go along with this if you can show the president getting the crowd to beat people up at his speeches. Also going along with because you provided evidence is not authoritarianism. "What authority are they obedient to?  Donald Trump's authority?" Authority to the authoritarian is not simply a person, it includes institutions, culture and tradition as forms of authority. In the sense they view him as a strong leader, yes. They put with all his flip flopping because he is confident and his position of the day to the hilt. He also represents to the returning the historical American position of strength (Make America Great Again) with his comments about Mexicans, a wall, banning Muslims, etc. They see these things returning America to white working class people, i.e. the traditional American.

  3. +Alex Xeon It's just a scientific fact that authoritarians are drawn to guns in America. If bans were truly authoritarian, authoritarians would be drawn to it, instead they are drawn to the myth of a powerful "thug stopper," or "tacticool" gun that the Navy SEALS use.

  5. Alex Xeon What makes bans on one kind of thing authoritarian, but bans on another kind of thing not authoritarian? If all bans are authoritarian, then a murder ban is by definition authoritarian.

  7. +Zum Zamim Independent authoritarians will most likely vote for Trump, since many independents are disaffected republicans. Besides most Trump supporters being authoritarians doesn't mean most authoritarians support Trump, though it just so happens that most authoritarians are on the right so that is the case.
