It's been obvious for years that this was just a right wing attempt to co-opt liberalism, because these people never stand for anything liberal, are complete hypocrites on the things they criticize liberals on, and have no politics or ideology beyond whining about how they(or more specifically their demographic) are victims of the left.

  4. That's more demonization and propaganda, but I see your point. The way the right covered OWS was to convince normal people that OWS was not something they should support. This is designed to create an enemy within who aren't won't willingly support the right, but will work to oppose the left from within.

  6. quiet rogue It's a joke, classical liberalism is 18th century philosophy, many of the modern things you are creations of modern times, from well designed and run cities to 40 hr work week, universal sufferage, public education, are all deviations from classical liberalism that came out of it's failings. Even our modern notions of individuality and individual expression became mainstream in the 1960s and 70's.

  7. Good point, "classical liberalism" is actually an attempt to reframe liberalism as a conservative project of preserving tradition which is antithetical to liberalism. Of course most of the people involved in that are too dumb to understand it and are maladjusted 30-somethings looking to relive their edgy hayday in the late 90's and early 00's.

  8. quite rogue "Identity-based reverse-discrimination" is not a real thing of any significance in society, there might be instances in a few isolate pockets out there, but it is massively overshadowed by real discrimination. The whole point of classical liberalism is to take the energy out of a push for all those issues you listed and turn it toward some bullshit whataboutism where you're left spinning your wheels rather than making changes. And from your comment it seems like this worked perfectly.

  9. quiet rogue Now you've just devolved into straight white male identity politics and wallowing in your own victimhood. This is exactly the kind of effect "classical liberalism" was designed to have. There are problems with the ways that some elites used movements against racism, misogyny and bigotry to divide and conquer, but that is a problem of "woke" third way elites with post-Obama inclusive politics combined with a post-Bush/Blair authoritarian security state.
