Something that wasn't discussed was that Obama had never really tried to sell policies to the American people or Congress before, so a lot of his early disappointments could have been incompetence. I'd be more willing to buy that than it was all a conspiracy by Obama to make himself seem weak and ineffectual. That said the Democrats have a corporate constituency just like the Republicans, even if it is fewer corporations and billionaires they are still beholden to their agenda. Sam Seder did a great interview this morning about how the new left tried to take over the Democratic party in the 60s and 70s but failed because they didn't understand that the Democrats had ties to high tech industry.
