  1. Are people still butthurt about that? There is a connection between gamergate and the alt-right because a lot of people in gamergate went on to join the alt-right. Also, the grievance and identity politics of gamergate is just a mini-version of the grievance and identity politics of the alt-right. The association doesn't come from liberals and progressives, it comes from the people involved. Milo even admitted that gamergate was great for him since it allowed him to con people into his way of thinking.

Aapo Oh yes, if only the media had believed calling some random programmer a slut(based on the word of a childish ex) was a grand exercise in ethics then somehow maladjusted white males would not believe that women and minorities were out to take their freedom and their stuff. Not only is that completely logical, it properly attributes agency and personal responsibility to gamergaters.

  3. ***** Only insofar as his persona comes from a combination of shilling and trolling and he probably doesn't believe a fair percentage of what he says. But for all practical purposes he is alt-right.

  4. ***** From what you are telling me, it sounds like you are keeping things in perspective. The problem with the whole issue is that people don't keep things in perspective. You're basically telling me that you can smoke and remain healthy, that doesn't actually change what it does to the population as a whole.

  5. ***** Alt-right may be over used but it is still a distinct phenomena. It is describing some form of reactionary that is not in-line traditional conservationism.
