  2. Well it's a holiday. These guys are out in force on holidays, nights and weekends. On normal days there are enough normal well adjusted humans to drown them out, also they institutionally scatter when exposed to light. Only when normal people have something better to do do they actually swarm.

  3. Dogematic Atheism A ton of money had to be poured into Germany to rebuild it's economy and a huge program to reverse Nazi social engineering had to be implemented. It was not easy. Both Iraq and Afghanistan had a fraction of the armed forces that occupied post war Germany, something like 30,000 in Afghanistan, and 180,000 in Iraq. In Afghanistan a government of local warlords were installed, it was basically people who were from different tribes of the Taliban leaders with a President who got the job by attending Washington dinner parties. Needless to say that did not create a stable environment for Democracy. You seem to have forgotten that the Iraq occupation was notoriously inept and corrupt. The entire government and army were disbanded by the U.S. People lacked security, food, water and electricity. The contractors in both countries were also extremely corrupt and misappropriated much of the money that was spent on reconstruction.

  10. Fat Panda What Europe is experiencing is something like the U.S., nativism as a substitute for a working social democracy. Europe implemented austerity and it screwed the people over hard. They feel they are fighting for limited resources with these new immigrants, meanwhile they are not looking a the bankers at the top.

  12. Fat Panda Large multinational banks, particularly in Germany, have benefited from things like the Greek Debt Crisis which was a direct result of austerity. Also the financial system in general is one of the biggest contributors to the growing global crisis of wealth inequality. Austerity was massively promoted by right wing American policy groups, I'm not sure if they were connected to the financial system.
