The Al aqsa mosque is built on the Temple Mount which was constructed in 957 BCE, more than a thousand years before the Arab conquest of the holy land. There were still Jews living there when the Arabs arrived and took over. Over the course of that time Jews were dispossessed, massacred and expelled. Sometimes they would return when conditions in Europe and Russia got bad and enlightened moslems were running the show in the Levant. Arab countries expelled their Jewish populations in 1948 but no UN agency was created for them. Do they have the right of return or is that just for Arabs?

  12.  @dydactic1112 it wasn’t their house. It was the ottoman’s house. Jews purchased portions of the house from the owners. After the second neighborhood war the Jews moved into their portion of the house. A bunch of other people on the block decided to attack the Jews who defeated them. The Jews took territory on the block which can happen if you start a war and lose. They were offered property on the block, despite having many many blocks already in their possession. They turned it down and now they have nothing. Brilliant strategy.

  38. To be clear the argument is about discretionary funds. The vast majority of the budget is non discretionary meaning that money is dictated by prior law. Discretionary spending is our fun budget like helping Ukraine fight evil or funding education, scientific research, infrastructure etc.

Usually whoever loses the most men and materiel and cannot continue to conduct warfare is the loser. That would apply to the NVA who had to retreat because they were be killed in large numbers. The same thing happened to the Vietcong. The political will to continue the war was just not there. It was unpopular and there wasn’t a clear goal or payoff for the US.
