@charlesparr1611 uh the US beat the NVA so badly they retreated and let the Vietcong do the dying. We left Vietnam because of political reasons not military defeat.

@gfys756 they were not the losers of that conflict. The Vietnamese were because it was a brutal civil war that ended millions of Vietnamese lives. Why are you children so ignorant?

@vernondodge1689 what makes you think the US wouldn’t allow South Vietnam to invade the north, if they were capable of doing so? Our entire purpose was to prevent the communists from taking over Vietnam.

@fantabuloussnuffaluffagus casualties actually have a lot to do with who won or who lost in any given battle. Usually whoever loses the most men and materiel and cannot continue to conduct warfare is the loser. That would apply to the NVA who had to retreat because they were be killed in large numbers. The same thing happened to the Vietcong. The political will to continue the war was just not there. It was unpopular and there wasn’t a clear goal or payoff for the US.
