⁠⁠ @ragnardunderdase3473 we can supply hundreds of thousands of troops because we have a huge amount of surplus equipment and the US military by itself has over two million troops. We have extra just for them much less the older equipment we’ve been sending to Ukraine. No one has proposed sending all of Ukraine’s men to war.

@thomasthereal4067 it is against the law to sell the F-22. The F-35 is a much more complex aircraft requiring a lot of maintainers and a well established pipeline of parts. This is also true of the Abrams. Both these machines require a lot of training, robust logistics that take time to establish and then lots of real world practice to become effective users.

@martin-cheers these systems require lots of training and logistics support. That just wasn’t there at the beginning and much of it is still being developed. You can’t just drop off an Abrams and tell people to have fun with it. It requires, fuel and lots of parts and well trained maintainers, in addition to training the operators.

The US isn’t at war. We advise we don’t force the Ukrainians into any kind of decisions. Their way forward is up to them. If they want to continue defending themselves rather than accepting a peace agreement russia won’t honor, then they should do that despite what whiny little cowards in the comments think.

And the planes have to maintained like the pilots have to be clothed, housed, fed and otherwise taken care of. That would require substantial investments in infrastructure and resources. Where are you getting this idea?

@Andreas-gh6is there are literally 6 F16s in use by Ukraine. They won’t have a tide changing effect until there are a lot more. However they are able to chase of russian aircraft and missiles and make a difference in the survivability of their ground forces.

@williamzk9083 I mean they still have most of the tanks they received though your comment about the lack of combined arms capabilities massively reduced their effectiveness. On the other hand Bradleys are making a big difference.

@nikolaypetrov9789 what he means is that they won’t have enough of the modern equipment and that their production capabilities are limited because of sanctions. This will constrain their ability to rebuild.
