@Semmel2k yup, the pros and cons usually are the result of combining the stack system and the feed system

I forget which one is it, but one of the German MG have a double drum mag, both do have a drum shaped holder for 50 round belt tho

@bosknight7837 something called an Ares Shrike wasn't it?

Nah, mini nuke all the way bruh

Hey......you might be on to something here.... On a separate note, the russians had prototype bullpups with mags as pistol grip, so...

I think single feed means the topmost cartridge are held by both mag lips, while a double feed one are held by either the left or right lip and the next cartridge, so a double feed would feed alternatingly from left and right
1
That also put more pressure on the supply chan because different types of magazines must be supplied
1
Manufacturing and supplying two types of mags most likely are not considered pretty effective nor efficient, especially during major war like WW2 where every little thing counts

They look fine on some, but not most

Maybe because mafia movies are set in the 20s and 30s, the aesthetic is another reason, also mafia gunmen/gunmoll doesn't have to carry a lot of mags for a long time, unlike combat soldiers

The Finns did make KP 44, a PPS 43 copy, that accept drum mags tho, granted it didn't see much service and i suppose they have an abundant supply of Suomi drums so it's simpler to just use that instead of copying and mass producing PPS mags.

I suppose drums are thicker than sticks because the rounds are facing forward instead of sideways making it very uncomfortable to crawl with too
