@mikemccormick8115 So far, as of now anyway, an EV is like a vehicle with a smallish fuel tank that must be replaced after every 500-2K-whatever number of refills. And the replacement cost of that tank is often more than half the total cost of the vehicle. Should you get stranded, you can't just hike off with a fuel can and return with a gallon to get the vehicle moving again. Battery-electric devices make sense for portable hand power tools (drills, saws of different kinds, etc) because they're simpler and cheaper than tiny gas engines doing the same work. Less fuss & lower cost. The model begins to break down by the time these tools reach the size of a chainsaw. For someone who wants the most cutting for the least weight to pack into the woods and back, a gas chainsaw makes more sense. I don't worry about the "mandates" to replace ICE vehicles by 2030 or whatever .. because America would need to roughly triple the number of electric generation plants to come up with enough juice to recharge large numbers of EV's. And that just isn't happening. Unworkable laws don't last, despite certain folks shrieking about their persecution fantasies of the gub'mint coming to take away their F150 at gunpoint. Consider this: In the US state with the highest rate of EV adoption (California, with 3.9% as of 2022) the authorities must already tell people NOT to recharge their EV's during certain times when the power grid is especially stressed. Until we start building lots and lots of nuclear power plants, widespread EV adoption just can't happen.

@lhurst9550 Remember all the folks who said the internet was just a flash in the pan? I'm still laughing over that one.

@francomartini4328 Teslas, Rivians, Canoos etc have their place .. I like it when the people who have more money than sense wear a badge proclaiming it to the world.

A simple perusal of the news, and a little searching, is all it takes to get the necessary facts. In the state with the highest percentage of road-registered electric vehicles (California, at around 3.9% of the passenger fleet) the authorities already must sometimes tell EV owners not to recharge during certain hours when the grid is getting dangerously overloaded.
