Here's a daily reminder of why idiots shouldn't be in charge of anything important:
March 4: -"Because a lot of people will have this and it’s very mild. They’ll get better very rapidly. They don’t even see a doctor. They don’t even call a doctor."
March 4: -“If we have thousands or hundreds of thousands of people that get better just by, you know, sitting around and even going to work — some of them go to work, but they get better.”
March 4: -“Some people will have this at a very light level and won’t even go to a doctor or hospital, and they’ll get better. There are many people like that.”
March 5: -“I NEVER said people that are feeling sick should go to work.”
March 5: -“The United States… has, as of now, only 129 cases… and 11 deaths. We are working very hard to keep these numbers as low as possible!”
March 6: -“We did an interview on Fox last night, a town hall. I think it was very good. And I said, ‘Calm. You have to be calm. It’ll go away.' ”
March 6: -“I think we’re doing a really good job in this country at keeping it down… a tremendous job at keeping it down.”
March 6: -“Anybody right now, and yesterday, anybody that needs a test gets a test. They’re there. And the tests are beautiful…. the tests are all perfect like the letter was perfect. The transcription was perfect. Right? This was not as perfect as that but pretty good.”
March 6: -“I like this stuff. I really get it. People are surprised that I understand it… Every one of these doctors said, ‘How do you know so much about this?’ Maybe I have a natural ability. Maybe I should have done that instead of running for president.”
March 6: -“I don't need to have the numbers double because of one ship that wasn't our fault.”
March 7: "I’m not concerned at all."
March 8: -“We have a perfectly coordinated and fine tuned plan at the White House for our attack on Corona Virus.”
March 9: -“This blindsided the world.”
March 9: -“So last year 37,000 Americans died from the common Flu. It averages between 27,000 and 70,000 per year. Nothing is shut down, life & the economy go on. At this moment there are 546 confirmed cases of Corona Virus, with 22 deaths. Think about that!”
March 9: -"The Fake News Media and their partner, the Democrat Party, is doing everything within its semi-considerable power (it used to be greater!) to inflame the Corona Virus situation, far beyond what the facts would warrant.”
March 10: -"It will go away. Just stay calm. It will go away."
March 12: -“It’s going to go away. ... The United States, because of what I did and what the administration did with China, we have 32 deaths at this point … when you look at the kind of numbers that you’re seeing coming out of other countries, it’s pretty amazing when you think of it.”
March 12: "But it'll be -- it'll go very quickly."
March 13: -“I don't take responsibility at all.”
March 16: -"I give myself a 10 out of 10"
November 13: 11,118,081 American covid infections & 250,383 American covid deaths.

@And-rc9yy Best wishes to you as well, and may 2021 be a lot better year for you and yours.
Another thing facing the covid deniers is that this is very much an outside context problem. Most people alive today never lived through a time when things had to be shut down, when people had to hunker in, and so on, merely to prevent the spread of a disease. Some older people may remember the 1952 polio outbreak, but otherwise, most westerners have lived their lives in a comfy bubble in which not too many Really Bad Things happened. This is far outside what those people have experienced. Some can parse it only through the lenses of denial, fear, disbelief, etc.
Edit: I've been a long time history reader so this is all familiar stuff. I am jealous of the people of the 1940s, who, upon hearing that Pearl Harbor had been bombed, didn't fill their Twitter/Fakebook feeds with disinformation, calling it "fake news" and saying that people are under no obligation to participate in the hoaxes of signing up to serve, participating in rationing programs, or blacking out their windows at night.

Deaths in the US, sadly, are only increasing. In California, in just the last five days alone, an average of about 250 COVID-19 deaths a day have been reported in L.A. County. That’s higher than the average number of daily deaths from all other causes combined, including heart disease, cancer, stroke, diabetes, car crashes, suicides and homicides, which is about 170. https://www.latimes.com/california/story/2021-01-09/with-hospital-morgues-overwhelmed-by-bodies-coroner-begins-storing-bodies-as-covid-deaths-surge

ShariaFreeUK You wish. Trump's lies about coronavirus:
1). It's one BIG HOAX folks, it's the Democrat's latest HOAX
2). it's the same as the flu
3). it will go away on its own like magic
4). it will go away when the weather gets warmer
5). NO I DON'T TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR IT
6). leave those 2,500 people on the Cruise Ship from Hawaii about to dock in Oakland, CA to remain at sea, if I had it my way they would ALL remain on that ship because I don't want them coming here because it will mess up my numbers. (what he's saying is of those infected individuals on that ship, this would ADD to the total number of reported Corona Virus infected individuals in the U.S. and he doesn't want that to happen because he perceives it would further strain his chances of re-election by making him look bad). So with this, he very clearly doesn't CARE if all 2,500 people on that ship becomes infected and/or DIES!!!
7). this will all be over by April (three weeks from today)
8). everyone should continue going to work if they have symptoms, it won't be a problem
9). we have everything under control no need to worry (new reported cases in the U.S. continues to rise by the hundreds. (currently there are more than 1,000 reported cases in the U.S. and more than 100 Deaths, and the reporting of those cases now spans ALL 50 States) Trump: It's all a BIG HOAX FOLKS!!!...a Democratic HOAX!!!
10). we will have a vaccine soon in just a few days (in direct contradiction to: Dr. Anthony S. Fauci, M.D. The Medical Director of The National Institutes of Health-NIH Allergy & Infectious Disease Division, very clearly stated REPEATEDLY ON NATIONAL TELEVISION that a Vaccine is at least 1 1/2 year away).

Hello Derek Parent! Glad to know I'm not the only one running analysis on the numbers. Yesterday the US posted 111,697 tests performed, which was down quite a lot from the average of 149,863 tests/day going back to April 6, when the numbers were made public through worldometers. An astonishing 13 states (AK, AZ, CA, CO, HI, IA, ME, MI, MS, OH, RI, SC, WA) were missing their testing data for yesterday. Some states even showed a "sudden" new-cases-drop right at the same time they posted a huge drop in the number of tests performed, go figure.

@gb7418 I prefer to call it "herd mentality". Applies to sheeple and other barnyard animals, the kind that get their meds from Agway. Given that humanity has never developed "herd immunity" to the common colds, the common flus, tetanus, mumps, measles, rubella, chicken pox, smallpox, cowpox, monkeypox, malaria, diptheria, pertussis, pneumonia, tuberculosis, yellow fever, dengue fever .. yah, it's safe to say there's no such thing as herd immunity to covid either.
Call me back if you find someplace where the ostrich approach (bury your head in the sand and ignore the problem) actually produces "herd immunity".

Did anyone else catch the bad cv19 reporting coming out of Michigan, USA yesterday? The previous 11 days of reporting had an average of 1489 new cases per day, but yesterday only 645. It is not as if the virus suddenly ran out of people to infect there. Similar for Louisiana, where promoter Tony Spell has been gathering people for covid-19 spreading parties. The other notables are Texas (50% down from previous 11 days average), Virginia (43%), Hawaii (45%), Montana (39%), South Carolina (42%), Maine (40%), Missouri (45%), Georgia (60%), Idaho (76%), Vermont (58%). EDIT: This morning some of those states seem to be carrying over the increases that apparently didn't get posted in time for yesterday's refresh.

@richb2229 So let's do some numbers. Assuming covid-19 runs loose in the USA (as all indications point to), and 80% of the population is infected within the next 4 months, here's what we're looking at in terms of effects:
327,200,000 people
261,760,000 affected (80% of the number above)
52,352,000 sick enough to require hospitalization (20% of the number above)
.. and this is where the poop hits the propellor, becaue clearly we haven't got the means to hospitalize that many people and/or perform oxygen support for them.
In fact there are less than a million hospital beds in all of the USA. So of those 52 million severely affected people, many will die, and many more will be out of the workforce for an extended time.
