  2. So far I'm not feeling optimistic about people in the US doing the right thing. The president calls the WHO CFR numbers "fake news", implies you can go to work, implies it's just like a cold. Ordinary people were visiting the disease hotspot in Kirkland, WA then flying home by regular passenger jet. People flew back from Italy and resumed their normal ways. Same for people returning from cruise ships. And looming in the background is this strange unwillingness (or inability) to do the widespread screening that would help reveal how widespread it really is. Community transmission has been happening in the US since at least early January, if not even earlier.
