Bingo. I'd be willing to bet that the virus spreads through dense apartment buildings just as quickly as it spread aboard the Diamond Princess even when everyone stayed in their cabins for weeks.

This makes me glad I live in a safely blue state, although it has all too many people shopping without masks because they think it's a hoax. Some of those same people without masks also have really bad coughs that they share with everyone else in the building :( So I wish the governor here (Oregon) would make it mandatory to wear some kind of face covering in public settings, especially grocery stores.

@susan9188 Correct. It is no more difficult for this virus to spread in dense apartment buildings than it was aboard the Diamond Princess, where people were locked into their cabins for almost a month and the virus still spread throughout the ship.

Pardon me for repeating this - but - we can be fairly certain that dense apartment-living situations are no more difficult for this virus to penetrate than were the individual cabins aboard the Diamond Princess - where, if you recall, it spread cabin-to-cabin despite everyone staying in their rooms for weeks.

@barrycarey7521 Let me share a story from the pacific northwet. I was in a Safeway recently. There was a male customer loitering, hanging onto a shelf. He wasn't wearing a mask. He kept coughing and it had that deep honking tone you get from pneumonia or TB. He lost his breath, fell over, and took down a display rack. Then he pawed all over everything trying to put it back into place - with no gloves on, of course, and he kept coughing into his hands all the while. I'm mad at the store for not requiring everyone to wear masks or some other kind of face covering, and for not asking someone to leave the store when they're obviously sick and spewing germs all over the place.
