@johnwang9914 Please don't misunderstand. I'm not wanting to see restrictions lifted while things are still so dangerous. I was merely saying that Delta is so much more contagious that we (as a race) need to get better at doing the right thing instead of sucking down the dumbest anti-science propaganda that the internet has to offer up. And there is quite a lot of it. This "ignore the science, just lift all restrictions and let nature take its course" thing has been proven wrong by every single place that's tried it. Every government that did try it, had to later change policy once it became evident that a lot more people would sicken and die. Take a good look at Florida. Not only have they not required masks (via state laws, anyway) but the government has outlawed local legislation to that effect. So by governor DeSatan's thinking (I may have misspelled his name - it's tricky) this disease should have burned itself out already and left behind survivors with covid immunities. Instead, the covid outbreak there just keeps getting worse and worse.

@johnwang9914 I love you thinking, but Delta spreads so easily that classic control measures have lost the bulk of their effectiveness. Best would be for anyone unvaxxed to remain in some form of bio-isolation, only the vaxxed to be out adulting, and everyone to continue wearing masks and distancing (and avoiding congregate settings) while the unvaxxed get vaxxed. But that's not going to happen anywhere.

The anti-science conspiracy-minded people need something to do during lockdown. It's funny to watch them be so wrong .. hopefully they can square that circle by following their science denialism to its logical conclusion, which would be to perish before passing on any genetic material.

@stephaniesamra7960 Even vaccinated people can carry the virus nasally and pass it on. Which is why they recommend that vaxxed people continue to wear masks. I've been fully vaxxed for months, but I continue to mask in public to protect the same anti-science meatheads I encounter online (like you) who, even though they're ignorant as f*ck, even though they voted for the guy who tried to go full dictator, even though they should be in a psych ward, etc, are still people and still Americans.

@bigcat2520 Regarding "They have created the biggest" << Hate to break the news, but the "they" you're referring to are merely the forces of viral evolution, and "they" brought us the 1918 pandemic too.

@jacobstrouble6631 Actually I'm thinking Delta is doing a good job in the US. I used to think science denialism was a bad thing, but now I see it's merely one of the subtle means by which the good Saint Darwin keeps the gene pool at least somewhat cleaned up. People who ignore the obvious evidence and make bad choices that subtract them from the gene pool are - well - experimental life forms that failed the test of evolution, which is to survive.
2
@hattmancock6396 Well, YOU cannot do that. Home Depot / Best Buy / Walmart do not sell the equipment needed for genetic sequencing. But universities have had the capability for decades. That's how serial killers are often caught these days. Genetic sequencing. Is this the first time you've heard of this technology which (since you don't have access it it personally) is somehow not real to you? Yikes, wait until you hear about space travel.

@MariaAudioChick Yah :( Even the ones who totally disagree with it. They're people too. Even when they're trying to infect as many as possible :(
1
@MariaAudioChick Re "Do your research" << You're supposed to say that as "DO YuOR REsEArCh!!1" when you spout patently-disprovable nonsense. Seems you've never even been in the same room as any actual scientific knowledge. So, let's see, Florida ranks #9 among US state for covid illnesses per million and #26 for covid deaths per million. Hardly the success you claim to be cheering. BTW it's a very Clump45 way of speaking to say that "People say xxxxxxx" in the way you did.

@Don M, you could have stopped calling these things "untested" when the number of mRNA-vaccinated people surpassed the number of Twitter users. And no one calls Twitter "experimental, untested". Your brain sounds pretty mushy! ;)

Unfortunately Australia was not able to move the vaccination needle much during the phase when last year's kinder, gentler strains of covid were easier to keep at bay through snap lockdowns and quarantines. Delta is a whole nother thing. Delta can spread much faster than vaccination efforts can be ramped up.

@peacefuljourney4994 Oh no, not at all. What makes a conspiracy theory a conspiracy theory is that there is never any actual smoking gun, but the theory has twisted people around to think that there SHOULD be one, and, for many, that's all the encouragement they require to believe it to be fact. Face it, the unproven (and in all likelihood unprovable) notion that evil scientists created covid is a lot easier for some people to make sense of than the way the forces of evolution often cough up surprising new things in the bio-lab. Stories are easier for those poor sods to understand if the characters all have faces and hands and names. Good conspiracy-theory writers are like good Onion writers - they make up something that /sounds/ plausible (at least to a certain set) and run with it. Naturally their BS doesn't withstand the "do you have evidence of this?" test, but, again, being connected with factual reality is not what those people do normally anyway.

@jazura2 You could say the same about gravity, which only goes to prove how simple your mind is. Sigh. On the plus side, there will be fewer science deniers left after this simmers down.

Just steer us all to the peer-reviewed studies on these things so we can see what you're talking about. Err, you DO have those peer-reviewed long-term studies, right? Because if not you'd just be bloviating.

Could you point to the map where Dr Campbell removed Sweden? (Sweden was not the only nation not included in that random list of nations that also included the USA, which was not in Europe either)
