I am seriously afraid for all my friends in Australia, many of whom don't seem to be taking covid very seriously. They are a large population that's naiive to the virus and grossly under-vaccinated. Even worse, from their personal videos (posted in near real time) it is clear that they have not stopped congregating indoors together without masks. For them this has been a faraway thing that doesn't affect them. Well, Delta is trying hard to break out in Australia now, and if it gets loose and they don't take strict precautions, it's going to be that familiar disaster of overwhelmed hospitals and then overwhelmed morgues. So whoever you are, take the vaccine if you can.

@j2simpso To which I would add - who f*cking cares about which grade of approval these vaccines have from the FDA? For many months it's already been cleared to use in the USA, otherwise it would not even be available, and definitely not available everywhere for free. It requires no rocket science to understand that this is a very communicable, nasty disease that's killed a lot of people in a fairly short time, and that vaccines are freely available to many people. Edit - past a certain point, watching Delta take out the anti-vaxxers is like watching St Darwin go after people who drink and drive while not wearing their seat belts. It's not as if they haven't been abundantly warned already.
