  1. The numbers he provided at 0:38 paint a frightening picture. Out of 100,330 cases 3,804 are dead and 55,693 are recovered. That leaves 40,833 still being treated. In other words, out of that 100K total, 40.8% are out of the workforce for an undetermined time and 3.8% are out of the workforce permanently. What economy can take that kind of hit? And that is why in China and South Korea they are taking drastic measures. Yet other nations are slow to realize they're next.

Assuming covid-19 runs loose in the USA (as all indications point to), and 80% of the population is infected within the next 4 months, here's what we're looking at in terms of effects: 327,200,000 people 261,760,000 affected (80% of the number above) 52,352,000 sick enough to require hospitalization (20% of the number above) .. and this is where the poop hits the propellor, becaue clearly we haven't got the means to hospitalize that many people and/or perform oxygen support for them. In fact there are less than a million hospital beds in all of the USA. So of those 52 million severely affected people, many will die, and many more will be out of the workforce for an extended time.
