Oh dear. You seem to have fallen prey to one of the common logical fallacies. Here's an example: Suppose the hospitals are full of gunshot wound victims and most people are wearing body armor in public. A study comes out telling people that body armor is only 60% effective. Folks like you ask, why bother wearing it at all? The answer lies in how it reduces your CHANCES of trouble.

@sononi4798 Re "forgive yourself for the totalitarian global state" < Haw haw haw. Can you name any instance in human history where the necessary motions of fighting a pandemic (enforcing quarantines, masks, vaccines) led to the formation of a durable totalitarian state? crickets What's that, you can't name any such? You were just waving baseless conspiracy theories? Who would have thought? /s

@stacyliddell5038 To all the people who say, "Eww, that's not normal", this is about as normal as wearing a uniform during WW2. There's still a raging pandemic going on. Tracing, masks, distancing, vaccine proof, hand sanitation, etc, are all normal during a pandemic.

@libertarianireland3239 The behaviors you're describing sound like a perfect petri dish for Delta, unfortunately. Hang tight & stay safe!

@rubyremi3832 In other words - "There's no such thing as summer because I just found some snow where I am right now." FFS

@rubyremi3832 Oh, by the way, when you don't like the term "raging" -- can you recall another time in history when hundreds of counties had to apply for emergency federal assistance to bring in portable morgues because the hospitals and funeral homes were already full up? Crickets.

@rubyremi3832 Good luck.

@stacyliddell5038 Is that anything like the way you need to "show your papers" to vote, prove you can drive a car, receive medical care, buy a weapon, travel on a plane, travel to another country? Oh, the horror of having ID. You should have started protesting this ID concept earlier on. It would have made your whining seem a lot more authentic.

@puckutubesux7356 Speak for yourself on not knowing how to read. My example (of this anti-science insanity) was quite clear. Possibly it was far over your head, like the moon is high over some bovine animal chewing the cud. Do you need it in shorter sentences, with smaller words, to help you digest it more easily?

@sononi4798 In other words -- you cannot answer my very-specific question. As I thought.

@sononi4798 So .. let me get this straight .. you were telling me to learn history, yet you cannot name even a single instance of when a pandemic, that affected all people (not just those of a certain race/class/whatever) equally, forced governments to take proactive public health measures that later resulted in a durable authoritarian government that persisted long after the emergency itself? Why, it's almost as if you need to learn your history. No offense, but being the smartest person in your corner of the trailer park is not the same thing as actually being smart. It just means you need to get out more. The world is a bigger place than just your corner of that trailer park in north central Ohio.

@sononi4798 Regarding "Oh I forgot to add surveillance, censorship, propaganda" << All of that was around long before covid. All of that will be around long after covid is gone. Covid has zero effect on that picture. You sound like you've misconstrued the movie "Songbird" to be a documentary.
