  3. @Allan Baxter the problems lie with a) how easily this disease spreads and b) how high its POTENTIAL mortality rate is. For example, in a country where no advanced medical care is available, mortality rates could be as high as 15%+ due to lack of oxygen/ventilator treatment. Italy has already used up all of its capacity to do oxygen support. Many societies can not afford to lose 10%-15% of their population, with many of them being experienced senior people in positions of authority.
