  1. Reporting from Portland, Oregon, USA. Last night I went past at least 8 restaurants that were completely packed with the 20-50+ yo crowd. Not a mask in sight. This was kind of strange, since Oregon did not open vaccination to the general adult population until 4/19. Even if the entire eligible group had gotten vaccinated then (they didn't, as we know from the numbers) their second shots wouldn't be until around 5/19, and their full immunities would not be until 6/2. Community spread of the B.1.617.2 (Indian) variant has already been found in the Portland metro area. Some stores in Portland are letting people come in without masks based only on the honor system, without actually checking to see if they've been vaccinated, or simply taking people at their word when asked. This will not end well :(
