The Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine is the most affordable to manufacture and requires no special handling such as super low temperatures. It's more like the Southwest Airlines of vaccines than the Concorde.

@ezpic2 Sadly, what you just posted is right up there with bigfoot, flying saucers, chemtrails, the illuminati, and secret lizard people running the world. And you probably don't even realize that.

@BiggerFatterBlog When you wrote "The upside is, COVID-19 is taking its toll on the anti-masker and the MAGA mob", I just wanted to add that what you're seeing is nature's famous efficacy in letting the trash take itself out. Every time a covid denier perishes of covid, the collective IQ of the nation improves a little.

@ReflectedMiles When you let the Republicans do whatever they want, they try to disenfranchise all the people who won't vote for them, to balloon the deficit, to deny healthcare to as many people as possible, to exclude their political undesirables from the census count, and in general to remake America into a high-tech apartheid second-world state. When you let Democrats do whatever they want, they try to bring affordable healthcare and education to as many as possible, to lower the deficit, to improve America to its former first-world condition, and so on. They are hardly equal opposites.

@ReflectedMiles Your argument failed completely where you claimed that " Given a choice, there are plenty of Democrats who would end the Republic" and then offered no proof of it. You get an F. Try better.

@ReflectedMiles Are you ever-so-lamely attempting to claim that the Democrats are being oh-so-bad for the economy? You named California and Illinois. Here are the top states ranked by 2019 stage GDP in billions of US dollars: California $3137 Texas $1886 New York $1731 Florida $1093 Illinois $897 Pennsylvania $813 Ohio $698 New Jersey $644

@ReflectedMiles Forgot to add this one - you will note how the blue states continually bankroll the red states. If they're allegedly so broke (as you claim) how could they do that? https://apnews.com/article/2f83c72de1bd440d92cdbc0d3b6bc08c Your ignorance is your own problem, not mine.

@ReflectedMiles Sorry, didn't mean to cause you this much squirming when challenged on your asinine assertion (above) about Democrat-run states are allegedly so bad economically. From the way you're defending a ludicrous and indefensible point, it's pretty clear that you're now stuck in a cycle of commitment escalation. Keep squirming. I can always use the laughs. And happy new year :)
1
@ReflectedMiles Face it. The blue states are able to contribute more to the country than the red states. There's nothing wrong with their GDP. Life expectancies are better there, economic inequality is lower, etc etc etc. Your original assertion, on which you've based your many subsequent posts, was totally wrong. Thank you again for the laughs, sir.

@ReflectedMiles Thank you for the morning laughs. When you wrote, "when their political management has been financially inept for decades" .. why is it that the effect you claim to see does not manifest through GDP, ability to bankroll the financial failings of the red states, to provide for the welfare of their citizens, and so on? Have you ever considered that you may be simply another doctrinaire party hack, armed only with beliefs that have no basis in reality? Just kidding. It's clear already that you'll do anything to admit that you're just another knee-jerk apparatchik, spouting the party line.
1
@ReflectedMiles Despite your claims to be unaffiliated, the only so-called arguments you've attempted to make here all hinge upon "democrats bad", which in itself is easily disproved. You're just a marginally more articulate party hack than most other people online, is all. There's stuff smarter than you floating around in my cereal most mornings.
1
@ReflectedMiles "Talented" is a subjective and relative term. You're far less than professional grade at this work, and that is what makes you a hack at it.

Dr John et al .. last night I ran the new cases per M per week for the whole USA down to county level. It would appear that the new variant may already be in at least 15 states in the USA. San Diego county already appears to be undergoing its new-variant runup, but at roughly 2-3 weeks behind the LA curve. The California counties are the hardest hit at the current time of course. Data source was the NYT csv file. Edit: that new variant appears to have been here at least since around week 45.
