  1. Exactly. Look at how the governor of North Dakota, months too late, finally enacted a mask mandate just yesterday. Of course he waited until his state had become the worst-infected state in the whole country (8.2% of their population infected as of today, up from 7.9% just yesterday) all out of a desire to hang close to Sweet Potato Hitler's coattails. Condolences to the people of North Dakota :(

  3. A fine example of "exponential" can be seen in the record of virus cases in North Dakota. Between yesterday and today, they went from 7.95% to 8.25% of their population testing positive. Only yesterday did the governor there finally mandate masks - months too late. Like trying to lock the barn door after the animals have escaped and the barn is fully engulfed in flame. The stupid, it burns.

  5. But then, you folks sound blessed to have an educated and intelligent citizenry. Over here in parts of the US it's the exact opposite situation. Sometimes, like in North Dakota, the governor /recommended/ masks but did not make them compulsory. That just changed yesterday. Many many people chose not to wear masks, with the sad and entirely-predictable result that now North Dakota boasts 82502 cases per million, a lot higher than the 25801 per million that you have in the Netherlands.

  6.  @nmarbletoe8210  It's not an estimate. It's the cases-per-million number converted to percentage. For example, if there are 82,505 infections per million people, that means 8.2505% of the population has been infected. If there were 300K infected per million, it would be a 30% infection rate.   8.  @MariTeabag-lf1ly  Unfortunately the 50 US states are in some ways like separate countries. Over in North Dakota, for instance, the governor was kissing Trump's behind all year long and refused to mandate masks. The largely reich-wing people of the state eschewed them as well. Now they've got the worst state-level outbreak in the country, with 82,502 infections per million people. If the US states were listed as countries on the worldometers countries page, ND would top the list for coronavirus penetration. I live in a place where the governor mandated masks months ago, which is why the virus still hasn't gotten far here. Naturally, all our local inbreds can do is whine about how they're being "oppressed" by the mask order.
