President Balsonaro, is that you?

Where do you live? (I'm jealous, if the people there are that sensible) Where I live, every unvaccinated knob/tool/fool in the phone book is out there without any mask, walking into stores through the exits (to show they're not "sheeple") and generally comporting themselves as the most uncaring assholes.
5
Yeah, we're having an "experiment" like that in the USA now too. It's not going very well. It's killed more people here than WW2 did (a lot more, in fact) so the stakes are high, and participation in the solution shouldn't be optional now any more than it was then. Failing to vaccinate now is like being a Briton choosing to leave all the house lights on and the curtains open at night during the London Blitz. #FreeDumb!

I remember some initial studies predicting that without the interventions and the quick development of vaccines, we would have been looking forward to 10 years of cycles of death and illness as this thing reverberated throughout the human world, mutating and killing people all the while. It would be like the see-saw that is Brazil now, but a lot worse.

@rodpanhard Regarding "ave you seen how effective" << Why yes, I have. Have you? Seems like you have not. Here's some help for you. Of all the people who died of covid in Maryland, USA during the month of June, 100% of them were unvaccinated, and none of them were vaccinated. https://www.businessinsider.com/maryland-reports-only-unvaccinated-people-died-covid-19-june-2021-7

Only if you don't mind killing off lots of people to achieve "perfection". There was a fellow named Hitler who thought the same way.
2
Sadly, BoJo is the Balsonaro of Britain. The only leaders who Trump liked were the kind willing to kill large numbers of their own countrymen.

Unfortunately the lag time is very slow, and in some places people are very dumb. For example .. in southwest Missouri, the rate of new cases has been going up steadily for 8 weeks in a row. It is the only place in the country with so long a runup just now. It shows no signs of bending the arc or slowing the acceleration. Only just in the last week or so (as hospitals are overwhelmed) have people begun to think there's a problem there. Gah :( And even so, many people there still refuse to mask and vaccinate. So I have come to the conclusion that, while it's sad and unnecessary, it's not a bad thing for humanity if the dumbest ones decide to stampede off a cliff.

@jeffnduran Regarding "exercising their freedom" << You misspelled the word. It's "freedumb". Like when people drink and drive without wearing seat belts, or choose to fall asleep smoking in bed. When the idiots voluntarily remove themselves from the gene pool, in Darwinian evolution this is referred to as the trash taking itself out.
1
OpenTheVoid "The ratio of idiots to smart people are scary" << Look on the bright side, there will be lots of houses, businesses, jobs, and other stuff for sale cheap later when this is all over. And fewer idiots around. Those are not bad things.
1
@jeffnduran "You're more than free to continue wearing a mask if you want to, just don't FORCE others to." << Wrong, bucko. You have no more right to skip the mask, when the authorities require one, than you have a right to walk through a crowd letting off sarin gas around you. One more time for all the many dolts reading here: the mask primarily protects others from you, not you from covid (though it does a little of that too). It keeps the stuff that you exhale from getting into someone else's lungs.
1
Yup. We could still have almost everything opening yet still practice masking and distancing, but no, we have to cater to the most scientifically-illiterate who are merely tired of wearing masks.
1
@peacefuljourney4994 Since when did wearing a mask all the time not be normal life? I can go to work, to the grocery store, to visit my friends outdoors, all with a mask on, and it does not stop any of those things from happening. The ire towards masks is merely the dumbest among us failing to realize how serious this thing is. So if Saint Darwin plucks away some of the dumber folks among us, who's going to complain? They had it coming. Can't say they didn't have 16 months of news to tell them what's happening.
1
@tomjohnson4681 Regarding "But we have our freedom of choice" << Here is what you do not understand: your freedom stops where another person's begins, and their stops where yours begins. Get it? So when you walk around without a mask, you are sharing YOUR germs with them in a non-consensual sort of way. It's as if you decided to walk through a crowded store with a gadget that emits particles of nerve gas or some other poison. Get it? Do you need another example to understand this incredibly basic thing? If you want to go without a mask, wear a fully-enclosed space suit instead. Those people around you don't deserve to have you wantonly infect them just because you're so stupidly incensed over wearing a mask.
1
@peacefuljourney4994 Re "hopefully you will come to appreciate" << Spare me the fortune cookie platitudes please. Let me try to explain this again, maybe with smaller words and shorter sentences so it's easier for you to digest. When you wear a mask, the primary beneficiaries of it are the people around you. Specifically, it lowers the odds that whatever gunk you exhale ends up in someone else's respiratory tract - which, if you'd been paying attention the last 18 months, is exactly how covid spreads. Choosing to wear or not wear a seat belt primarily affects only you. Choosing to wear or not wear a mask primarily affects others, and in an exponential-growth kind of way .. the disease that you carelessly pass to someone else could go on to kill thousands if it keeps multiplying and spreading. Are you having trouble with basic comprehension of how diseases spread, and your civic duty in not spreading them to others just because you're cheesed at having to follow yet another rule> Because if so, the dust on freshly-cleaned windowpanes is a lot deeper than you are :(
1
@peacefuljourney4994 You say to continue not understanding your thoughts, but elsewhere here you're advocating things that under some circumstances could allow you to spread disease to others without knowing it. That's not good. The oldest known laws state, essentially, do as you will if it harms none. Well, it definitely harms others when you choose not to wear a mask and then end up infecting a bunch of people who die. What part of this is so difficult for you to understand?
1
@peacefuljourney4994 No thanks. Stupid is like a fire that burns, and I don't like to walk away from embers. You're practically aglow by this point. You could have kept silent, and merely be thought a fool, but you opened your mouth and removed all doubt. Do you still understand how you're not allowed to wantonly infect other people? Or do I need to explain that one further?
1
@tomjohnson4681 Wrong. At first is was mostly the ill and elderly who were most vulnerable to covid. Now covid has evolved to kill all ages with greater ease if they do not get breathing support when they most need it. We vaccinated older cohorts first because they were most at risk then. Have you ever watched a soccer game when the play shifts suddenly and unexpected things happen? That's what this is. A real live situation. You may have heard of these things.
1
@tomjohnson4681 Re "we dont care anymore" << Are you saying it's your "freedumb" to be wearing a toe tag? Because, frankly, I don't care if Saint Darwin takes the most-selfish and most-stupid of us. The ones that are merely stupid I'm OK with. But the ones that are malicious AND stupid (that's you, buddy) please feel free to shuffle on to the next plane of existence. Clearly you've learned nothing in this one :(
1
@tomjohnson4681 Once again, wing nut (is that one word or two?) you do not get to wantonly infect other people with YOUR nasty covid just because you don't like wearing a mask. If you need a lesson in consent, it means you don't have the right to do harmful things to other people without getting their OK first. What part of "you are not free to share your deadly germs with others" are you not understanding?
1
Here in the US, where the vaccine is readily and freely available just for the asking, it has indeed become sort of like an IQ test. While I am sad for them and their families, it's basically a good thing for the herd if the dumbest ones stampede off a cliff as they are choosing to do.
1
@beedebawng2556 Haw haw haw. I'm the one that's healthy now, and you're the one that Delta can make worm food out of. Let me know how that works out for you, dummy.
1
@rodpanhard Regarding "Have you ever heard of Mareks disease" << Do you have any peer-reviewed studies [know what that is?] showing that covid vaccines do that? Because if not, you're basically talking out your ass or repeating someone else who talked out their ass. Come back to me when you actually have a story, not just a rumor of a story. One kind stands up to scrutiny, the other doesn't, and what you're saying does not.
1
@rodpanhard Let me quote a few news articles for you here, since you seem to be woefully out-of-touch with how diseases, vaccines, and infected or uninfected hosts all interact. And, to reiterate, it is the UNVACCINATED who are filling the hospitals (soon the morgues) and not the UNVACCINATED. I'm sure you learned that in school, back before your mind got poisoned. https://www.al.com/news/2021/07/alabama-hospitals-report-94-percent-of-covid-patients-are-unvaccinated.html https://www.pbs.org/newshour/show/many-in-missouri-are-unvaccinated-hospitals-are-paying-the-price-as-delta-variant-spreads You saying otherwise is like you trying to say that 2+2=5. It doesn't. Repeating it won't make it true. I hope you can recover from being brainwashed by the dumbest propaganda that most any 10yo with a browser can debunk in less than half a minute.
1
During WW2 there were people who said the same thing about the blackout wardens too, but I think they all got whacked over the head or fined for noncompliance, as is befitting during a time of grave national emergency. Choosing to go unvaccinated and unmasked now is like choosing to leave all your lights on during the London Blitz.
1
@Martin-df4xk Who's censoring mention of Ivermectin or Vit D? Not you and me. Take it up with whoever is.
