Nearly every culture on earth has some cautionary fable about a smooth-talking stranger who takes you to a high place and spins fabulous yarns about what could be, then offers you a little piece of it, if only you will do him a favor that usually happens to be illegal or immoral or both. In their shortsighted greed, they have forgotten this important lesson about how to tell if you're dealing with the devil.
