@ejnichols05 Facts didn't matter to them back in 2009. I remember when Republicans called our President a Muslim; when Republicans called him and his family a pack of monkeys; when Republicans said he wasn't born here; when Republicans blocked every single path to progress that they could; when Republicans made pictures of him as Hitler; when Republicans shut down the government and hurt the entire nation, twice, just to spite him; when Republicans turned their backs on every opportunity to open a worthwhile dialogue; when Republicans would not even listen to any choice for a Supreme Court judge no matter who the nominee was; when Republicans openly said they would oppose Obama at every turn.
Those people got a lot worse under Trump. Now we're in this strange place where some of them think it's perfectly OK to toss the legal ballots they don't agree with, or drive their cars into crowds of protesters, or try to run a campaign bus off the road. If America is going to heal, those people are the ones who will have to do most of the healing, and, frankly, they seem disinclined to step away from their dictatorship-friendly pro-violence anti-science stance.
It remains to be seen if our nation must put some of those people into therapy, into prison, or whether we should give them plenty of remedial history & civics classes, or make them tour the Auschwitz museum to see exactly what fascism does and how they were manipulated into supporting it, or whether we should just transport them to the nearest border and tell them not to come back, ever.
