  2.  @EconLessons  Agree. I have long been thinking that the west is in this primarily to keep Russia tied down in Ukraine and bleeding. It makes sense from the western POV. It would be important to postpone or delay any Russian realization that Ukraine will not be theirs. Metering the flow of western stuff to Ukraine is the spigot for inducing Russia to have hope that they could win. A short sharp quick defeat there would only convince Russia to move its empire-building activities to places that are harder for the west to supply - and probably bring out Lavrov for another highly-punctuated (almost spitting mad) rattling of the nuclear threat. Ideal option for the west is for Russia to exhaust itself there and go home - and that is absolutely horrible for Ukraine :(
