@MrStark110 Actually very very quick. Down in microseconds. The explosive compression would have vaporized them .. compression -> heat.

Chances are, they're not feeling a thing. Telemetry & comms were lost together at the same time. And the sub never surfaced at the 24 hour mark like it was supposed to automatically.

@avanellehansen4525 Correct, it would have been vaporization from the intense heat provided by quick compression. They wouldn't have felt a thing.

A hand crank. Gah. You get more watts per human from something they can pedal. All joking aside, it would seem that the inventor of this contraption was not as familiar with the "1001 deadly things that can go wrong with a sub" as are the US Navy, or maybe Electric Boat in Groton.
