Anyone who can be easily confused into both-sides-are-the-same thinking (and there are many; they're not bright and they're as common as ants) is fair game for Trump or the next cult leader.

@antonyduhamel1166 Nothing whatsoever. I cite the example of the funny mustache guy from 1930s/1940s Germany, who cared nothing for the rights of others, regardless of their nationality. Like Trump, he too had no problems with destroying his own country.

On the one hand, Trump obviously neither understands nor cares that the US is a long-running enterprise with longstanding obligations and goals and practices .. but on the other hand, the US Republican party (which is currently in charge of all 3 branches of US government) doesn't care if Trump burns it all down. How they pretend they didn't do what they just did will be interesting going forward.

@mithrasrevisited4873 Also, there was never any fix for Rupert Murdoch's lie/gaslight business to destabilize the nation. Down here in the US there's a huge market for "angertainment", material that keeps the bubbas frothing in anger at anyone who's not exactly like them.

As an American who's horrified by what Trump is doing .. I can't blame you. Seriously, he's the densest American you could find, yet, to our Republicans, that somehow makes him wonderful to them. He does not understand that the US is a long-running enterprise with many operational norms and many longstanding obligations. Instead, he is a psychopath, and he's treating it the way some would treat a great big bag of money found along the roadside. Obviously it's not possible to have normal relations when, every four years, all treaties are ripped up. Hell, he's violating the terms of the USMCA and he's the one who set it up! That the US Republicans are just fine with him burning it all down is a shame. Trump will be gone someday, but their dishonor will remain.

Check out the first trial of Leslie Van Houten, a Charles Manson cultie who participated in murder. At that first trial she was screeching all kinds of cult nonsense. It took her awhile to realize that the jail thing was real, the charges were real, and that she'd participated in something quite evil. Shallow-minded folks are easy prey for the likes of Trump.
