"Freedom" (aka life in a plutocratic capitalistic state like the USA) is like a shiny thing one can lust for, but having a steady job and guaranteed healthcare / education / retirement / vacation / maternity leave is the unexciting stuff that makes life a lot easier. So 140 people died crossing the Berlin Wall in the 30 years of its existence? In the USA, upwards of 20K people per year die from not having health coverage. But "mah mah mah freedumbs!" :(
