This is his attempt to upstage a few things that happened, things that are bigger than him .. Republicans asked for open hearings, then the hearings were opened, and Republicans suddenly didn't want that. Republicans asked for firsthand witnesses, then the witnesses stepped forwards, and Republicans suddenly didn't want that. They've painted themselves into a corner.
