  1. I'm afraid things are much worse than we in America want to realize. Even if by tomorrow morning we had Trump's head on a stick, we put a sensible replacement into office, we undo every bad dumb thing he's ever done, and we profoundly apologize to every foreigner he's ever offended in our name, we would not be off the hook. The rest of the world will rightly ask us what steps we're taking to keep a Trump from happening again. If we don't fix all the structural problems that allowed Trump to happen, we will eventually be the world's biggest leper colony.
