  1. Yeah but not as an everyday car. To be honest I think the R is the better choice if you want to stick to a Golf and with the same tyres I doubt there will be much difference in lap time.

Based on this I'm seeing something else. http://fastestlaps.com/models/vw-gti-clubsport-s http://fastestlaps.com/models/vw-golf-r-mk-vii The 100-200 difference is 1.2 (which is certainly respectable) but from 0-200 the R is slightly quicker. Similar story with the 1/4 mile.
