My family was fortunate considering one Grandad was 15 years DLI/MR on the Somme and my other Grandad was 30 years RAMC at Dunkirk, Dad was 22 years RN served WW2 and Brother was 22 years RM served in the Falklands War. Sadly, my wife's Grandmother lost two Brothers DCLI in WW1. We have the three WW1 medals and Death Plaque for one of the Brothers.

  3. It seems likely these bows were used by small groups of archers working together on a specified target. So, an enemy soldier might have to contend with five or more archers shooting directly at him.
