  1. My great great great granddaddy Samuel Hokum lived in a stump house in Arizona. He was known as 'Stumpy Sam' but nobody really knew whether this was because he lived in a stump house or because he'd lost both his legs playing poker. He lived a relatively normal life on two replacement legs made from Balsa wood. Unfortunately, one night the stump house caught fire and locals had to form a line hauling buckets of water from the nearby well. The stump house was saved, but poor Sam who'd just managed to get his legs on was burnt to the ground.
