  1. He said use a box wrench on the tie rod flats to hold the tie rod still while tightening the jam-nut. Obviously he meant use the open end, as a box wrench big enough to pass over the wheel -hub would be too big for the tie rod flats...You sound like Foghorn Leghorn.

  2. Cary K I think in America you refer to a ring spanner as a box wrench. In the UK where I come from we have box spanners that are like tubes. The ring spanners either have different size rings or same size open and ring. I expect the generic term over there is box wrench and you use the open end when you can't use the ring/box end. It's always best to count the turns of the old end as you take it off and replace with the same amount of turns (make sure you buy same size end) That way you will have the same as you had before. If the tie rod rotates the end will move up or down the tie rod. You is always you unless it's me then it's me.
