Love him or hate him - we'd probably still be in the EU without him...

@gordonbradley3241 Well, I don't think so. I wanted to be out of the EU and I voted Leave because I wanted our politicians to stop having silly ideas about a united states of Europe. I can't see any rejoin campaign ever persuading the UK electorate to give up independence - if they wouldn't vote to stay in after 40+ years - they're never going to vote to join.

@AshOwnz9 Firstly, Brexit has hardly happened, we've not been out 3 years and nobody expected immediate positive results. Clearly, there is a transition period and of course covid lockdowns and war in Russia have impacted the UK economy. The non-EU UK could easily make some noticeable improvements to people's lives, but this is going to require a UK parliament with a majority pro-UK MPs, unfortunately we're still stuck with a majority of pro-EU MPs representing a 10% pro-EU electorate. Ultimately, the real improvement in people's lives is more power over their lives and the power to determine the UK's political future. Prior to Brexit the UK electorate only had 10% representation in the EU parliament which was controlling their lives.

@gordonbradley3241 Do you not see 'the UK being in the EU' is the actual 'fantasy' here?

@AshOwnz9 Well, I have explained it's early days, it took decades of EEC/EU membership before a UK unskilled wage (before working tax credit) could no longer keep a family and buy a home.

@AshOwnz9 The main problem with the UK being in the EU was the UK people were not interested in the project. In the 2014 UK/EU election only 36% participated and two years later half of those voters chose to end EU interference in their lives. This only left 18% and since the 2016 vote, we have left the EU and both Labour and Conservatives have changed EU policy. It's now looking like less than 10% real support for the UK being in the EU. We're told the UK would vote to rejoin, but the last rejoin marches were attended by less than a hundred people. You're asking how leaving the EU has improved people's lives as though, being in the EU to please 10% of the UK electorate is somehow a default position - it isn't. You need to set out a positive case for the EU with reasons why the average UK citizen's life would be improved in the EU - good luck with that...

@AshOwnz9 Only, if a person believes (as you plainly do) that, democracy and self-determination of a nation is not a benefit for, and should not feature as a part of the average citizen's life.
1
@AshOwnz9 The question should be What about leaving the EU has made the average person's life worse? Because, the average person is not going to vote a change that doesn't offer any gains.
1
@AshOwnz9 This is the core of the problem - you believing only you get to decide what improves the average person's life. If the average UK voter wanted to be in the EU - the UK would be in the EU.

@clarecrawford9677 It was the people of Scotland that chose to part of the UK and the people of the UK that chose to be independent.

@AshOwnz9 We have established that Brexit has returned sovereignty to the British people - thanks
