Great Britain was not the only country controlling other countries. If the British did not control a country a different nation would have done so.

That's not true. There was a growing moral argument in Britain against slavery. In 1772 a black slave escaped in England from his white owner. White English lawyers brought a case to an English court and the white English judge freed the black man from slavery because no person could be a slave in England. The point is white English helped the black slave and these people eventually got slavery banned in the British Empire (25% world population) in 1833.

@nancywoods6182 So, your position is that a person should stay living in the country they was born in.

@nancywoods6182 What about race profiling every person and relocating them to their country of origin - do you like that idea too?

@Valencetheshireman927 I wonder if Nancy would like to say: All white people should be returned to the countries of their ancestors and all non-white people can stay/go live in any country they like...

@randombro89 And most were not peaceful after the British left...

@nancywoods6182 OK! Let's look at Australia. What do you wish would've happened differently? I suppose you think whites should've never landed and should not be allowing ships and aircraft to be seen from the shore...

@rudyardwalker9113 Your point was the abolishment of slavery in the British Empire was not based on moral reasons, but practical reasons. The written evidence of the debates in parliament that led to MPs voting to abolish slavery proves it was done on moral arguments that slavery was wrong.
