Pro-EU lot opposed having a referendum on joining the EEC, they opposed having the 1975 referendum on staying in, they opposed a referendum on joining the EU and they opposed having the 2016 referendum - then they said it would be 'democratic' to have a referendum...

Must be frustrating for James to be so full of clever arguments about politics and have nothing going his way - I suppose that's because hardly anyone agrees with him.

@seang2700 Yes, there was no UK referendum to join the EEC - this was because those 'pro-EU lot' in power that wanted the UK to join the EEC did not want (opposed) a referendum. Then when a Labour government proposed a referendum, the 'pro-EU lot' did not want (opposed) that referendum. Then when the EEC became the much changed EU, there were those that wanted a referendum, but it did not happen, because the 'pro-EU lot in power did not want (opposed) it. the pro-EU lot were against (opposed) to Cameron committing a future Tory government to a referendum, Cameron had believed a likely Lib Dem coalition would prevent a referendum and had not wanted to agree (opposed) the referendum. Parliament reluctantly voted (opposed) for the 2016 referendum, because it would have appeared odd not to. The pro-EU lot had never asked for or facilitated a referendum; they had not wanted (opposed) the UK people having the say on 'Europe'. They only wanted the UK people to have a say (The People's Vote) after they had lost a referendum.

@seang2700 Well, it appears you like to cheat at poker, because it's obvious you ask to 'see your opponent' and then dig around in the pack to improve your losing hand (You edited your comment). The problem for you is, I already had the best cards in the pack. If you really think those responsible for the UK being in the federal EU project had wanted the UK people to have a vote on it, then it's a waste of my time trying to educate you.
