Ordinary people get very angry when children are murdered in horrific circumstances and they see it as a direct consequence of lax immigration policy. From what I have seen Peter had done nothing to warrant a custodial sentence of any kind. This looks to have been direct political interference in the judicial system. The Home Office referring to accused people as "criminals" before any trial and a political leader demanding "substantive sentences." Anyone charged with a crime should be allowed sufficient time to have expert advice and consider how they should plead to a charge. There should be reasonable time to prepare for court. The way these people were thrown into remand and clearly pressured into making rushed guilty pleas, then summarily dragged before a judge to be publicly berated and severely punished while a baying MSM called them 'racist thugs' was like witnessing roland freisler and his people's court.
