  3.  @robertallen591  We would need political parties in a PR system, but we don't need political parties in the fptp system. There are reasons why we have political parties; the issue is whether having political parties is best for voters. The most obvious reason against is enabling unelected entities to have power in parliament and government. People will say and believe a political party is in power or opposition, when really there is and should be a parliament of constituency MPs.

  4. I think if we'd had a system for the last 100 years in which it was illegal to form groups/use private money to gain political power. A system that only allowed independent candidates to stand for elected office, each candidate preparing limited campaign information to be published and reasonable campaign expenses paid for by the local council. Then our country would have been better represented, far more successful and as a nation we would all be much happier.
