@OliverMarsh-cl6jn Exactly! politics is more complex than what people like you get from TV; there's no point you trying to argue about stuff you have no knowledge of.
6
@OliverMarsh-cl6jn The points you make are the one-sided points you have taken from TV. Example, in your first point you claim that in 2022 Ukraine was a "free country" when in fact there had been civil war since 2014. You talk of "democracy" what about the democratic right of self-determination? Do you believe the people living in Scotland and Northern Ireland should be able to choose to separate from the UK? Why were the people of the Donbas not allowed to separate from a country more than double the size of the UK? If you give anti-tank weapons that can be fired with deadly effect from civilian buildings - then civilian buildings become legitimate targets.

How would it be today had Zelensky respected the votes for independence?
2
@OliverMarsh-cl6jn I think you should do some research into what happened in East Ukraine 2014 - 2022.
2
@OliverMarsh-cl6jn There was sectarian war in Ukraine from 2014 which cost many lives. This is why I believe partition is the best (only) practical solution, as nationhood is irreparably broken. This should supercede Ukraine's old claim to sovereignty as Ukraine sovereignty is no longer absolute. This was the situation when Russia intervened.

@ajaxon8071 The millions of ethic Russians living in Eastern Ukraine didn't just move there - their families have been there for many generations.
2
@ajaxon8071 Well, they are Russians now.

@OliverMarsh-cl6jn "There's no 2 side argument about a full scale invasion. If you disagree with that I fear this is the end of our discussion. How would you personally feel about a foreign power occupying your country" That the point - there is a two sided argument. I am from the UK. In the UK we have given the people of Scotland a referendum (2014) to leave the UK. We have also agreed (Good Friday Agreement) to allow the people living in Northern Ireland to choose if Northern Ireland should leave the UK. A foreign power would have no need to intervene in a civil war, because we allow people to decide their own political destiny by respecting democracy. Why do you stamp on the democratic rights of the people living in the Donbas with your jackboots?

This is going to affect morale on the battle front.

@ry1023.3 Could you explain why you think ethnic Russians living in East Ukraine should be forced against their will to be part of Western Europe?
1
@ajaxon8071 There were referendums held the Donbas area and Crimean Peninsula and the people voted to separate from Ukraine.
1
@ajaxon8071 If there was something wrong with the way the referendums were conducted and the result was wrong, why didn't Ukraine hold legitimate referendums to show the international community how the people of he Donbas really didn't want to join Russia?
1
@ajaxon8071 Referendums were held in the Donbas in 2014.
1
@ajaxon8071 Are you saying the majority of people living in Crimea/Donbas in 2014 wanted to with Russia - or are you saying the majority of people living in Crimea/Donbas in 2014 wanted to be with Ukraine?
1
@ajaxon8071 It's a straightforward question; you either believe the people of Crimea/Donbas wanted independence from Ukraine or they wanted to stay part of Ukraine.
1
@ajaxon8071 Clearly the referendums were not held in ideal circumstances, however, from what I have seen enough people wanted to vote and it was possible to vote freely and in secret. I understand some pro-Ukraine people refused to vote. But even so, I don't think anyone really believes the majority of people in the disputed areas wanted/want to be under Ukraine government control.
