From what I have seen Peter had done nothing to warrant a custodial sentence of any kind. This looks to have been direct political interference in the judicial system. The Home Office referring to accused people as "criminals" before any trial and a political leader demanding "substantive sentences." Anyone charged with a crime should be allowed sufficient time to have expert advice and consider how they should plead to a charge. There should be reasonable time to prepare for court. The way these people were thrown into remand and clearly pressured into making rushed guilty pleas, then summarily dragged before a judge to be publicly berated and severely punished while a baying MSM called them 'racist thugs' was like witnessing roland freisler and his people's court.

The petition against leaving the EU was clearly both futile and absurd, because it occurred before the UK had left the EU and only reached a fraction of the number of Leave and Remain votes; thereby having no added meaning and only demonstrating most Remain voters had accepted the democratic position. This current petition is not about opposing a democratic binary decision, but about a fundamental pillar of our democratic system: We believe democratic governance is not just about the ability of voters to remove those in power, it's also about choosing who we give power to. Clearly, this part of the democratic process depends wholly on those seeking power to be truthful with the voters about what they are seeking to do with that power. There is a concept in democratic governance that democracy applies equally to all – if we don't get what we voted for we respect democratic authority and dissent peacefully. Our's was but one vote among many. Starmer dismissing the petition by claiming those signing the petition are not his political supporters goes against this vital communal aspect of democracy and is divisive. Alarmingly, it reveals an obvious disdain for ordinary members of society that do not agree with him. Once we have voted, how we voted is not material. What is material is we are all equal citizens with the right to decide how to cast our vote at the next election. And we have a right to express discontent with elected members who have promised us they would act a certain way and then thrown our cast votes into our faces. Labour now smugly asserts: 'The votes are in the bag – you are too late suckers – we now have all the power based on 14% of the population to attack those in society we despise.' The question here is: 'Should we (the people) be able to demand/enforce an honest democracy?'

In 2014, there was a referendum held allowing people living in UK sovereignty to choose not to.

  77. I think this policy has irreparably damaged Labour, because many lifelong Labour voters are not interested in hearing about reasons for doing it or remedial ways of alleviating hardship. The message that resonates is 'Labour has deprived vulnerable pensioners of life preserving warmth.'   81. This war is a complete disaster. The 'Ukraine sovereignty' argument is deeply flawed, because a country at civil war for 8 years no longer has a democratically workable destiny. The Biden administration (Democratic Party) understood this and it is the governing principle of its much lauded Good Friday Agreement. The 'Ukraine is sovereign' argument states with all certainty the democratic wish of ethic Russians in the Donbas (and Crimea) to have independence from Ukraine is 'bogus' because all Ukraine citizens must have a vote on reducing the map of Ukraine. So, this argument must also state with all certainty that, all UK citizens must be allowed a vote in any Good Friday Agreement referendum and that all UK citizens should have voted in the 2014 Scotland independence referendum. So clearly, the 'Ukraine is sovereign' argument is flawed and demonstrably hypocritical.

I have seen it done many times and I have done it many times. In England it is often used by working class men as a distant signal of all is well/acknowledgement/greeting/goodbye.   85. We need to stop funding Zelensky's war with Russia now. The only way Russia can be pushed back is by using NATO troops and that would almost certainly ignite WW3. The people of the disputed regions overwhelmingly voted to be independent of Ukraine and we should have respected their democratic right to self-determination.   86. The solution is to stop all benefits and create a statutory right to basic employment. Each out-of-work UK citizen should be assessed by a doctor for physical ability and given a choice of suitable jobs. These jobs would not infringe on the private sector and be in return for a living wage. If any person refuses work without good reason - there's no free money. The same goes for homelessness - every UK resident should have a statutory right to basic decent accommodation. There would be huge administrative savings and the money would be put to better uses. All kinds of projects could be started up, getting people enthused, involved and motivated. Our 'clever' organisers have been getting it wrong for everyone except themselves...

  89. I tend to believe there is a presumption of guilt that will or will not be successfully prosecuted. The judicial system does not find an accused person innocent it basically tells everyone there was not sufficient evidence to prove guilt. Amesbury has been charged with common assault (Sec 39) which is the least serious offence. I think if you or I had done the exact same thing the charge would be ABH(Sec 47) because of the seriousness of injury caused by 6 hard blows to the undefended face and head.

It's not being made clear what this 'coalition of the willing' is about other than reluctantly mirroring discordant events outside of its control in a ludicrous attempt to steal thunder and appear important. When it talks of 'boots on the ground' it forgets to mention this means after a ceasefire has been enacted and in the full knowledge Russia will not allow them into a post- war Ukraine. When it talks of 'peace negotiations' it does so knowing Russia will not discuss any conflict settlement with those that have sought to perpetuate the war against Russia. So, if he gets 1 year or less he can remain (if he chooses) as an MP until he gets voted out by the constituents at a general election..

  100. The membership ticker is showing a movement of Conservative Party members to Reform UK. I think this is much a bigger problem than CPHQ is letting on. My Dad used to tell me in the 80s/90s that 'Europe' would eventually end the Conservative Party, because no political party can exist holding such fundamentally opposed objectives. This is all about getting a parliament that reflects the true will (vision) of the UK people. The vision held and pursued by the Heath, Wilson, Callaghan, Thatcher, Major, Blair, Brown, Cameron governments was wholly rejected by the people. Subsequently we have political establishment abusing the system to continue its failed pro-EU imposition on the UK people and it's taking a while for the people to redress this.

Yes, a Reform UK MP has a conviction for a relationship violence offence. However, you attempting to exploit a 20 year-old conviction when it's apparently too late to convict Starmer for breaking lockdown rules is a real example of two tier politics.
