Bernie's problem is that locally in Vermont he gets elected on taking care of business, and his Democratic Socialism stand is tolerated. On the national level Bernie is loved for this Democratic Socialism, but even attacked for taking care of business and doing what he needs to do to stay in office. Nationally people don't get that and many complain about it - which is stupid and shows us how cluess the Left is.

Robert Reich's book was "The Future of Work", and he did use the term "symbolic analysts", and the message was basically if you do not do well in school you're gonna work at McDonalds, or basically be a servant - i.e. Uber Driver, shopper, masseure, barber, or some servant to the rich people. But even the rich people, or the people who think they are rich get a surprise later in life when they have to go to college, or buy a house, or get a medical problem, or get sued. Reich now is about as radical as they come - but all he does is express sentiments. Either he didn't learn a fucking thing about this elite class works, who they are, how they cooperate together, or he understands and will simply not out these people. He's found a niche writing books, lecturing ... acting as a dummy load for the Bernie Sanders people - taking their time and money but not giving them back what they really need. My feeling is that we have to understand that even the people we think are great could very well have been co-opted by the "oligarch" class, like they do in the 3rd world - take the gold or get the lead.

That quote gives a very wrong impression of Ben Gurion. And it misses the whole point that Ben Gurion wanted the Arab to stay, but instead the whole Arab world told Palestinian Arabs to get the hell out of there, because they were all going to gang up and attack Israel, and they did. Also, Palestinians got stuck where they are because Arabs would not accept them as refugees. but they exiled the Jews that lived in Arab states and they were accepted by Israel. So much here that your conversation with Cornball doesn't mean anything. Cornel West has turned into a real ahole since he's running or Pres.

@compassioncampaigner728 Bernie is the better judge of where the Senate is and what is necessary to pursure his political agenda than you are. When you can do what Bernie did, or even recognize what he did, then I might start considering what you have to say.

It's reasonable to criticize or discuss Bernie and AOC and their votes and politics - but both have got something done - who the hell is Kshama Sawant? Bernie and AOC are what we have. To question them who have gotten stuff done and brought attention to issues instead of whining about how bad Israel is and great the Palestinians are and projecting a face of Progressivism that few Americans want anything to do with - the hell with you.

Dude you ain't read nothing if you have not read "The Wrecking Crew: How Conservatives Rule". It is far and away TF's best and most intense book. I think it's the one that got him in trouble and banned from the media.

I thought we were here to listen to Cornell West answer questions, not to hear Anderson Cooper scold Dr. West for having the wrong opinion about Russia, Ukraine, Iraq, etc. The idea that Russia just destroys stuff for the fun or it, or is expanding or taking land from other countries can't really be supported. Russia has an outsized influence on countries bordering it, no doubt, and so does the US - but the US has encircled Russia and China and talked about war and shipped weapons and caused coups, etc. We're not really seeing that from Russia and China - are we? Not to mention both Russia and China are doing things for their people. More China, but in America the lives of the average people are almost being enslaved with the decreasing price of labor and the increasing price of food, rent, healthcare and education - and then there is the reverse of labor gains like child labor being brought back in America. This is why people are sick of the mainstream media - they all are pushing to support this same myth of America that just no longer seems to apply.

No point is arguing socialism. To the oligarch/plutocrats socialism is synonymous with democracy. The oligarch/plutocrats seem to believe that they own the planet, that money is eveything, and that we the people are just like cattle that inhabit the land, and when we get in their way we are more like rats or racoons and that they can use us or remove us at their pleasure. Democracy has the gall to confront the owners of the country with our idea that we should have equal rights ... you know, like the Constitution says. That's why they want to overthrow the Constitution so badly. Most of these Libertarian Oligarchs and Plutocrats think that might makes right, and most of them are weak like Bush and Trump so they substitute money for might in terms of right and they terrorize us with money through massive deepening inequality.

So, maybe AOC is CHOOSING to show that she can work with and in the current government - BECAUSE THAT IS WHAT HER EFFING JOB IS - in addition to the ideas and feelings of socialism she might bring with her. This is what government policy change is in the US. KS can work at her low level of doing things all she wants but she will never get any higher that where she is now - and didn't she even quit her City Council position or whatever it was? Why is there no room for both opinions and both efforts - again this is Left versus Left in the who is really the Left wars. Maybe both of them are two sides of the same dysfunctional system coin? I wonder just how bad Cornel West would feel, and how he would ever have the courage to face his public again if he ran and did siphon off a number of votes that could prove he handed the election to the Republicans? He could spend the rest of his life denying his voters made any difference like Ralph Nader has ... but few really listen to or respect Nader any more compared to his former stature pre-2000. I think Brother West will make a hell of a campaign, but I hope at the end he looks clearly at the reality and decide to urge his voters to vote Democratic. Finally - I think something to think about is - why don't Republicans ever make these kinds of arguments? The reasoning I think is because the people urging Democrats to vote for West are sock-puppet troll Republicans who are trying to help the Trump cause. Think about it ... only Democrats are urged over and over to defect from their party. And, I am not saying they don't have good reason to be critical ... I totally get it ... but, the reality is that THE PEOPLE have one chance, one party and if they would show up and engage with it, maybe the Democratic Party could get something done for them - because the Republicans surely will not.

I'm a big Bernie fan, but I cannot get into any movement he talks about that is populated and motivated by Islamic Radical Muslim immigrants that hate the USA. What's more, no one else when they see the composition of such a party will have any faith it in whatsoever. Bernie has to take the chance that he will intitially lose support if he jettisons the Ilhan Omar, Rashida Tlaib, and other Muslim American poiticians who really represent Paletstinians, not Americans and not America's closest allies.

IT IS NOT UKRAINIAN'S LAND ... there is land that people live in. About half the country is Russian heritage, speaks Russian and resented the coup and the harassment and discrimination that the Kiev government aimed at them - and the violent war. You cannot say Ukraine has to give up land when what it is really doing is genocide or ethnic cleansing of land that belongs to everyone where families had lived their for hundreds of years - and now Western Ukraine calls it all theirs and is ready to kill the people in the East. The answer to Ukraine was to partition the country - not to kill people with Russian heritage, and bolster Nazis for god sake Anderson.

Carville's being Carville, trying to make a point and show his face in the media for some exposure. I doubt mathematically Carville believes West will play a significant role in the election, but it's theoretically possible. I mean, if Carville has said that West was not going to have any effect on the election and there's no problem, well, that would have been downright insulting to Cornel West and not very nice, It is useless to view these media clips and meaningless to try to find a meaning in them.

Palestinians are only OK with non-Muslims if they take an oppressive role if their sick societies. Very, very few if any Muslims had lived in their homes for thousands of years, and even if that was true Jews have a history there going back much further. Look at the history of Crimea .... it was never Ukrainian, and the fact that Kruschev rearranged the accounting for it in the 1950's does not mean that the West can use it to try to landlock Russia and deprive it of a naval seaport? A lot of war and nasty BS in the world happens because Americans are so stupid or disinterested in what is going on in the world. Crimea was never Ukrainian - like 90% of the people are Russian and speak Russian, and it is Russia's only warm water port. Just like they keep saying Ukraine had nuclear weapons. Those nukes were Russian and without tampering with them or taking them apart and rebuilding them - Ukraine could not have used them. The discussion about Ukraine in the West is insane, and has been for over a year while people are being killed and a country destroyed. End the war. Accept Russia in the world economy - we need an international community that can unify and fix global warming.

People are people and have the right to think for themselves, and that goes for Bernie as well. Trusting Bernie instead of turning on him or treating him like an enemy of a traitor to me is just not right though.

If you think anyone can do any better than Bernie did, that makes you stupid, or a Republican troll. The country is where the country is, and they are coming around mostly because of Bernie, not because of ignorant fool people who think they know politics or who want utopia tomorrow. It's not going to happen, and getting booted our of office by a Republican challenger would really destroy his legacy. With people like you on our side, we are sure to lose, so don't blame Bernie.

The Palestinians use violence. Their goal is to destroy Israel - not to build a country or negotiate a peace. To that end they must brainwash and repress their people - like most of the Islamic societies. It is not just that the Left doesn't condemn Palestinians, though they should. No one reports neutrally on the Israel-Palestine war, which is what it is, and it is completely driven from the Palestinian side. They shoot the rockets first, they stab people in public, kidnap, snipe, etc. Why do they do that? Specifically to pretend they are victims, and they can do that because there is no honest reporting on this issue, and gullible people like you side with them without thinking or understanding what is going on. You blame the Israeli government, what a cop out. Try holding the Palestinian government to account - they are the ones that set the do not recognize Israel policy and to ultimately destroy it. Their Palestinian government charter is available on the web even. I say Israel should decide for itself how it wants to conduct itself when it is being warred on - no matter what weapons are used the intention and reality is that Palestinians are murdering Israelis. A lot of people love Cornell West, but as for being President, I don't think he is prepared for it, nor could he do it. I would like to see a debate with all these candidates. Tell that to Hamas you idiots. Gaza was not democratic, but if you imagine that Hamas told Gazans what they were planning - if Gaza was a democracy - how would the people have voted on that? To bring death and destruction back home to them while Hamas leaders relax in luxury in Qatar, Lebanon, Turkey, and elsewhere around the world while using their people are soldiers, slaves and shields. Pretty sick. That is real apartheid, Hamas ruling over the enslaved Palestinian people. Another thing in terms of humanitarian aid - Hamas has plenty of food and fuel for themselves hidden underground in tunnels. Get a clue Hamas supporters ... they are playing the victim with the lives of their own people.

Americans are like hypnotized or brainwashed or something. Because, they are not even trying to make logical, literal sense out of the news or what they hear. They have been programmed to accept things without question intuitively, so when a "hit piece" like this comes out - they don't care about the factual content, they take their cues from the tone and the subliminal and not even that subliminal information and just align with it. This is the mode in which democracy has failed.
